Finding A Purpose In Life & Holding On To Your Dream

Feature | Finding A Purpose In Life & Holding On To Your Dream

Finding a purpose in life doesn’t come easily for everyone. Though many people want to have a meaningful life, they often find themselves off-track in finding their personal purpose. They’re either not living it or not aligned with it. Let me share with you how one encounter reconnected me to my dreams and life purpose.

Finding a Purpose in Life but Getting Off-Track

Finding a Purpose in Life but Getting Off-Track | Finding A Purpose In Life & Holding On To Your Dream

Have you ever felt like you’re living your purpose but you’re off-track or misaligned with it?

One time, I was in New Jersey phoning a potential client. I knew the client was not the type of person I wanted to work with even before going into the conversation. True enough, I felt odd and weak after the phone call.

The next day, I received a text from a friend saying, “I have somebody to introduce you to. Are you free to talk tonight?,” to which I replied, “I’ll reach out to you tomorrow.” While I still felt odd, I also knew my friend was about to introduce me to someone who can put me back on track.

The Phone Call That Changed My Life

So, I texted my friend and asked, “Hey, who’s the person you wanted to introduce me to?” He replied with a question, “Do you know of James Barbour?” Unfortunately, I didn’t and told him, “No, I don’t know James.”

My friend proceeded to fill me in on who James Barbour was. Apparently, he was the lead star in The Phantom of the Opera, which has been one of the longest-running Broadway shows. He had reached out to my friend because he wanted to speak with me. I said, “Oh, wow, that’s amazing.” His gesture really did touch and flatter me so I immediately agreed to speak with him.

My friend introduced James and I. We were on the phone within 20 minutes and it felt like the stars had aligned for us and our goals. As we spoke, James started sharing his story. He started telling me about his life and journey, and we clicked right away. My vision and purpose went from being off-track to being realigned.

The Vision I Held on To

The crazy thing is I was actually holding on to a vision before I spoke with James. I have been wanting to work with celebrities. I believe celebrities are big opinion leaders in the world. Like a life coach or a speaker, they also have a message inside of them. They not only make an impact but they also have a community they can easily reach out to.

Celebrities have a number one fear and that is to lose relevance one day. After all, they are only as powerful as their community. Without it, they’re unable to share their message and make a difference.

Goals, Passion, and Talents Align

I had wanted to work with celebrities when I found myself talking on the phone with James. In turn, James wanted what I have. He had a message and a story he wanted to share with millions and needed my system. He wanted to understand and learn from me because as he affirmed, I’ve “done it.”

The prospect of our partnership excited me. Then, I revealed to him, “The funny thing is, you have what I want because I want to learn from you. You are the lead in a Broadway show. Now, you don’t know this about me but I have a theater show. I have a one-man show where I play 15 different characters in my life. I’ve been holding on to this because I’ve been touring with it for the past few years. The thing is, it’s not what I want. I want to go big with my one-man show and I need the expertise from somebody like you.”

James and I were two stars aligned. I was in New Jersey when we phoned, and James was in New York for a show. I happened to be scheduled for New York the next day for a family get-together so James took the opportunity to invite me for dinner to connect.

I found James to be such a nice guy when we finally met. We had a great conversation and realized we were going to work on something big together. It led to another phone call where we discussed our vision and how it would help people live their dreams.

I was set to tour with my theater show and James committed to helping me get into theaters in Los Angeles. He agreed to coach me and help me create a structure for my show. We would help other artists and open up platforms for them during the tour. We would also train other artists and teach them about the different skill sets we have. In the end, I would be able to help people create audiences for themselves.

We were co-creating a whole vision. In turn, I helped James with his message and his vision. I also taught him how to spread his message online.

What started off as a text message and a phone call turned into a global vision. It was a vision with a goal to take this message to millions of people in the world.

Right now, I want to encourage and inspire you. If you’re holding onto a vision of what you want in your life, keep holding on to it. People will show up. The stars will align as long as you keep communicating it and you’re consistent with it. Opportunities will align and you’ll be on your way to discovering your purpose. Dreams do come true!

If you’re feeling off-track today, what can you do to get back to finding a purpose in life? How can you realign yourself with what you’re destined to do?
